Predeterminado open street maps on sportiva2

i'd like to load an OSM on my device (only the zone where i live would be sufficient). i see in the compe shop you can get OSM maps, but i'd like to be able to load on the device a different rendering: for use in the wild i need contours, as you can find in open Cycle map, for example. is there a simple way i can get a small area into the device? of course i'd like a scalable vector just like the one i can see on Land...

    Hi Bronco,

i think there is no simple way as you may wanna have(and may be other too).
Let us assume you have Fullversion of CGPSLand(thats needed)
First problem ist to get the altitude data as lines as *osm(e.f with srtm2osm) or alternatively *.mp
Second problem is to get all needed data into one file as after loading data into Land a simple copy+paste from one "map" to another is not possible(may be there is a "secret" tweak but i didn't find a way in 3 years.)
Ok, depending on file sizes as both mp or osm-format are asccii a simple copy/paste can do the job for smaller areas.

If you have create sucessfully your input *.osm you can open it in CGPSL(Fulllversion only) and save it as MPVF which you can use in Land + Twonav.

    I agree with that.
It is possible to download OSM data here in osf.pbf format
Then, you need to convert pbf format to osm with Osmconvert. Only an extract of the map may be converted if necessary.
    At last

    Hi Bronco,

    just for sake in completeness:
in fact though pbf may have some advantages, it can not read by CGPSL.( in principle no need to convert with OSMCONVERT as its available as *osm.bz2(compressed *.osm))
Anyway, OSMCONVERT includes data clipping ability based on a Polygon.
So you can cut the needed area out of the data.
And YES if you read the wiki, you can do converting pbf=>osm(s.a) + clipping at once.
So find your way which fits best your needs.

tools to convert SRTM to osm:
    http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Srtm2Osm
    http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawik...n_contour_maps

    It's not an easy way.

i have downloaded my area of interest from here http://extract.bbbike.org/ (g zip'd option)
unzipped, opened on Land, saved as MPVF and successfully loaded to the device.
that was an easy procedure but still, contour lines are missing.
i guess i have to do the srtm procedure for those... next time!

    thank you everybody
