Predeterminado settings file or backup settings/options ?

    Hello everybody,

I am testing a few roms for my HTC and hence often reinstall my programs, also CompeGPS Land Pocket.
With a fresh install I obviously always loose my settings.
Now, instead of going into options and setting all my defaults such as map location, data location, GPS port etc., I wondered if I could not simply copy a file or two containing all of my settings for CompeGPS.
With OziExplorer I used to copy a few files holding this info, but unfortunately I cannot seem to find these files for CompeGPS Pocket...
Thanks in advance for your kind help!

Maybe interesting for future versions to include a sort of backup function for settings/options? Many programs provide this (e.g. NavNGo iGO).

    Cheers

The latest versions have a configuration file named "GPS.INI" on the install folder. You could copy it and restore when the new installation has been done.

Also you could save your key files...

Anyway, i guess that the best thing is:
    * Make a backup of your CompePocket folder in your PC
    * Hard reset, test your new rom, install your Compe and restore the CompePocket folder overwriting all files

    Best regards...

    Thanks for your quick reply!

Copying over the whole directory is a rather lengthy thing to do...

The only file that seems to change when changing some of the options is the compegps_log.txt file in the Programs Files\CompePocket\ directory.
Deleting this one does not do the trick (i.e. the settings/options are unchanged or come back...).

What are the key files you suggest to save and where exactly are they located on the PPC?

    Thanks again.
    Cheers

If you have not a GPS.INI file, this means that your compepocket is still using Windows registry for your configuration.

You must backup the next key for saving your configuration:
    HKEY LOCAL MACHINE (HKLM)\Software\CompePocket

Copy all this folder and restore it when your new installation has been done.

You could backup it with PHMRegistry (a Freeware software).

The other file (KEY map files) is "mapkey.ini", only if you have bought any CompeMap.

    Best regards...
