Predeterminado Im Getting Crazy of getting & Finding maps!

Im trying the whole day. for 6 hours already go get some freaking free maps for twonav for my ipad.
How the hell can i get them?
I tried downloading OSM files, and finally got thme after 2 hours, but now no application wants to convert it. mkgmap says error "failed to rename" and says its still available at location, but when i check it, it has deleted it.
    So thats crap.
And i needed to convert those OSM maps because compegps windows software would not support it.

Why is everything against me today...

    Please help.

I bought the app because the screenshots...it looked damn beautiful and the story was pretty colorfull to. Free maps and free 3d mode. And damn that 3d mode looks hot!
So please help me out how to accomplish this.

EDIT: 3 hours later i finally got .IMG's elsewhere from the internet. finally thought i would be finished. but when i try to open it in compegps land, it gives "error, to many IMG maps opened".
is this going to be endless?

EDIT2: so i downloaded one big IMG file, of 1.5gb, supposed to contain europe. So it wont bother me about to many files opened. But now it gives another error.
Isnt there some simple way to get these damn maps that will work on the iphone and ipad?

Im getting real angry and tired here

EDIT3: Never mind finally got the 3d maps to work...now the real maps...

EDIT4: tried to open another gmapsupp.IMG, only 310mb big. error in compegps air: "Exception in CompePlugIn_Read_Vector_Map3("file path")".
shit software? seems to be so...

    310 MB, it isn't small.
You can try open img with GPSMapEdit. It is shareware, but for open and save img it's free.
Open IMG file, trim your zone (312 MB is big map), save to polish map (GPSMapEdit format) and after export to IMG.
For this you need also cgpsmapper http://www.cgpsmapper.com/.
Import with CompeGPS and save as CompeGps faster vector format. Copy file into twonav\maps and it should works.

    bye

but if i make it even smaller, i can only have a small part of my country saved? can twonav only use a very small map?

anyways im going to try your method.

    EDIT: another idea failed
it says not enough virtual memory to open the file.

unbelievable how garbage all the map stuff is on the net. tried more img files and no matter what file i try to convert with mapkeode it give error number 6.
Compegps wont open a img file, no matter what img file it is. Always a error. or it is to big, or error to initialize.
im getting real tired of all this crap.

I tried twonav with my moutainbike.
My map is for my region, 6900 km2. I use twonav on nokia 5800 and it is fast for me.
For make this map, I used cgpsmapper on windows pc with 4 gb RAM.
With this I opened a img map for all Italy territory and after I trim my region and removed contour line on another map.
Afther I saved on mp format and expoted to img format.
With CompeGps I have traslated IMG to Fast vector map format and all worked fine for me.

I also use other raster maps on twonav (120 maps). For these I make a union table georeferred. So, when I need, I load the appropriate raster map.

I hope tha you can solve your problem

    Bye

I'm not sure if you understand the idea of TwoNav.

    TwoNav is a hybrid-map software.
The focus is on (topographic) raster maps for outdoor usage.
You can use nearly every raster maps.
You must just open it in CompeGPS Land or TTQV and save it as RMAP or ECW.
But also vector maps are supported.
Compe sold vector maps based on Teleatlas data for whole western Europe, USA and other parts of the world.
E.g. for the western Europe VMAP you around 100 Euros.
    This map supports full autonavigation.

With CompeGPS Land you have the opportunity to create your own vector maps.
As import format Garmin IMG, MP and some other formats are supported.
    OSM is not directly supported.
With CompeGPS Land you can than crate your own VMPF, which is supported by TwoNav.
But take care the format VMPF is not so powerful like the VMAP, which are created directly by Compe.

For direct OSM please annoy Compe.
Direct OSM-vector support is a feature which I would like to have.

At the Moment you can use OSM-Maps as raster maps, CompeGPS Land supports 3 different renders!
Or you spend a lot of time to create your own vwector maps out of OSM data.
Some example of OSM based vector maps, created from users, are linked in this forum. Check them out.

    Check this http://forum.compegps.com/showthread.php?t=5079 thread.

Or in german with more maps:
    http://www.naviboard.de/vb/showthread.php?t=38032

In the most case this maps are not routeable.
Its's possible to create routeable VMPFs, but im my eyes it don't make any sense to create a routeable outdoor map.

For onroad navigation just buy the maps from Compe based on Teleatlas.
